History
Svenska Skolan Marbella, established in 2003, has grown from a small school of just five students to a vibrant community of over 200. Offering education from preschool to upper secondary school, we are proud to introduce our new Secondary International curriculum while continuing to expand our educational offerings.

Years of history and education
Svenska Skolan Marbella has been a beacon for Swedish-speaking children on the Costa del Sol since it’s foundation in 2003. What began as a humble school with just five students has blossomed into a thriving educational community of over 200 students. Over the past 20 years, we have built a reputation for providing high-quality education for Swedish-speaking families on the Costa del Sol, and creating a nurturing environment for our students.
Our Swedish school offers a full range of education, from preschool (ages 3-5) to primary school (up to grade 6) follows the Swedish curriculum. Distance learning for those in upper secondary school, we offer online courses in Swedish through Sofia Distans, Gymnasium, all with the support of trained teachers who supervise students throughout the school day.
We take pride in adapting our services to meet the diverse needs of our students and families after hearing and learning their needs we are excited to offer the new International Curriculum, for those wishing to continue in a classroom environment and also open this up to all nationalities, enhancing their english language abilities and expanding their horizons of our international educational offering for students applying to secondary, Years 7, 8 and 9 we provide a unique learning experience in English.
Today, we continue to grow, blending the strengths of both Swedish and International educational models to create a nurturing, inclusive, and forward-thinking environment. Our vision is to expand this approach, enriching the lives of students from all backgrounds and preparing them to become adaptable, compassionate leaders in a globalized world.

Historical Milestones of Svenska Skolan Marbella
2003
Initially established as a small school with just 5 students, focused on providing Swedish curriculum-based education to children of Swedish expatriates living in Marbella.Inspected and licensed by the Swedish national board of education, Skolverket.
2005
We expanded the facilities and teaching staff to accommodate an increasing number of students and moved to ‘Centro Forestal Sueco’ (The Boho Club today)
2013
We moved from Centro Forestal Sueco to new, larger premises in La Alzambra where the school is still located today. The demand for Swedish education in Marbella is rapidly increasing. The school doubled in size after the move, from 45 to over a 100 students and reaching 200 students by 2019.
2024
We launched Year 8 of our International Curriculum, catering to both Swedish and international students seeking an internationally recognised curriculum. Became Cambridge recognised school.
Future Expansion
The school is actively planning for the expansion of its academic offerings, including the possibility of offering the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme and A-Level courses in the future.
The school aims to continue developing its international programme, ensuring that students have access to the best educational opportunities in a small, supportive, and personalized learning environment.
